Facts about STD, STI, and VD
CDC estimates that youth ages 15-24 make up just over one quarter of the sexually active population, but account for half of the 20 million new sexually transmitted infections that occur in the United States each year.
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD): Any disease transmitted by sexual contact.
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI): An infection that can be transferred from person to person through any sort of sexual contact
Venereal Disease (VD): This is another term for Sexually Transmitted Disease. The disease is passed on through sexual contact.
